Windows 10 OS is set to launch in just a couple of weeks and to go along with this, Microsoft is preparing with the launch of a one-stop shop for Windows and Windows Phone apps on the web.
flipping the switch on enabling new Universal App Store on web for Windows 10 devices. This new single unified app store will be the one way for apps and games to be discovered, purchased and updated across all Windows 10 devices.
Right now, if you try to open any old Windows Phone and Windows 8.1 app link on a web browser, you’ll be redirected to the new universal app store.
Overall the new Windows 10 app store looks good, easy to navigate, with a big carousel banner at the top showing featured apps, and sections for “Top Free”, “Top Paid”, “Best-Rated”and “New and Rising” app as you scroll down.
A new report clarifies that Microsoft has not yet launched its unified Windows Store that it is developing for Windows 10 devices of all shapes and sizes. The new Windows App Store mean to have “universal Windows apps” that run on all Windows 10 devices, including PC’s, Tablets, Phone, Xbox, HoloLens, etc.
A Microsoft spokesperson has offered clarification on this:
The Apps on Windows site lets you browse both Windows and Windows Phone apps, but is not the new unified Windows Store. We’ll share more on the Windows Store soon.
